  Question
The updater connects, but it disconnects before the update finishes.
  Answer
There are many issues that can cause you to lose your connection to the server while patching. Local PC issues can occasionally cause this to happen, but the problem is also frequently due to either a server issue or a problem with your Internet connection.

First, try forcing the updater to connect on a different port.
  1. Right-click your shortcut for City of Heroes/Villains.
  2. Choose Properties.
  3. In the Target field, add a space, a dash, the word "port", a space, and 13094.

    Before:

    "C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe"

    After:

    "C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe" -port 13094

  4. Click OK.
  5. Start the game normally using the shortcut.
If that does not help, try following the same steps again, but instead of 13094 use 23094. If the problem still remains, please choose from the following options.

Are you connecting either on a business, campus, or military network or with an in-home router? Or do you connect directly to an ISP connection without the use of a router?

I am using a home router or connecting through a campus/business/military network.
I am not using a router.
