Guild Wars®, a first attempt on role-playing combat game from NCsoft (CEO: Tack Jin Kim, Web: www.ncsoft.net), has been selected as a winner of online game of 1st quarter of year 2005 in Digital Content Award. The award was held by Korean Ministry of Information and Communication, with joint support from Korean Software Supporters Group and Korean Database Agency.
Digital Content Award, which started in year 2000 by Korean Ministry of Information and Communication, is only award that focuses on digital content to discover and select products and present opportunity for advancing to overseas market. Product’s was chosen considering four major characteristics: product’s excellence, competitiveness in international market, technology level, business execution capability of company in subject.
In the award ceremony that took place in conference room on 14th floor of its headquarter building, Korean Ministry of Information and Communication selected winners for digital display, educational content, and web information content area in addition to online game sector. The winners of this award will be candidates for Digital Content Fair which occur at year’s end and they will compete for presidential award.
Guild Wars, a winner of Digital Content Award, is a first attempt on role-playing combat game from NCsoft and the game rewards its players according to player’s strategy and skill throughout the game. In addition, Guild Wars employed revolutionary streaming technique to reduce initial client capacity compared to conventional online games and the game’s worldwide unified server system enable game users from all over the globe to play simultaneously. All in all, the game enhanced its fun factor as well as ease of playability for users. Guild Wars will commence its open beta service run on April 28th.
