NCsoft to Demonstrate its Online Games at more than 200 Universities; City of Heroes and Lineage II are featured demos as MMO game publisher joins the VGames College Campus Challenge
Austin, TEXAS, September 22, 2004 – NCsoft® Corporation, the world's leading developer and publisher of online computer games, is joining the VGames College Campus Challenge, which will visit more than 200 college campuses between September and December 2004.
An estimated 30,000 university students will have an opportunity to participate in demonstrations of NCsoft games Lineage® II: The Chaotic Chronicle and City of Heroes™ through the VGames program. Each VGame Campus Challenge event will last up to three days. During the event students have a chance to go head-to-head against each other in their favorite console and PC games and compete for thousands of dollars in prizes.
“NCsoft's games are a great fit for the lifestyles of college students, so VGames' program is an excellent opportunity for us to reach this market,” said Fred Schmidt, vice president of marketing for NCsoft North America. “Our games create a social environment that allows friends and fellow students to join each other in shared experiences. In some of our games, players will be able compete online against students at other schools or individuals from around the world.”
Lineage II and City of Heroes will be installed in computer labs at participating universities and will feature free demos on live game servers. NCsoft will provide prizes for its games in support of the VGames College Campus Challenge competitions throughout the duration of the tour (see participating schools below).
Lineage II and City of Heroes are available at most major North American computer game retail outlets, and include the first month of online game play. After the first month, players will be charged a monthly subscription fee of US$14.95. Sixty-day game time cards are also be available at many North American retailers for a suggested retail price of US$29.99. The games are rated Teen by the Entertainment Software Rating Board.
